Its a small community type restaurant, known for their breakfasts and home-fashioned meals. It's pretty small and tends to get busy during the weekends (large families take up the tables for long periods of time) The price range is pretty cheap, as I expect though. I ordered a cheese omlette and was disgusted when I saw it (even more so when I tasted it!) They used gross processed cheese in the omlette and I quickly lost my appetite. I shouldve stuck with the basics. Oh well, Ill go again just because its a cute place with cheap breakfast.
The Greek salad was excellent, just the right amount of dressing. The chicken was a tiny bit dry, but the vegetables were not overdone and the mashed were good tasting, obviously not powdered. The Club soda could have been fizzier. Ted's is best for breakfasts, and their coffee is great! It is a good place to take family, and many of the customers know each other. The women who work there anticipate when you need more ice water, coffee, etc. and are lovely people.
Ted's is a traditional diner and it has kept its character, even in this age of franchizing. Expect no "wonderful" food, just good food at a good price and in a local atmosphere. I make a point of trying out the French Toast in different places all over the country, and their's is at the top of the scale. It is simple, but it's got everything right: not too greasy, the bread (a good choice, whatever type of loaf they are using) nicely soaked with the egg mixture and three slices is more than enough without being wasteful. Coffee is OK and refills come promptly. The bill with tax is $7.50 including a $2.- tip. We go regularly on Sunday mornings - the staff knows us by now and treats us well. The only negative thing is that the "decor" is starting to fray at the edges and could use some fixing....
Old-time, small-town atmosphere almost overwhelms. The roast beef, though generous in serving, was bland for a standalone sandwich. The courteous lady at the counter never offered sauce. The fries were run-of-the-mill. Maybe not the greatest lunch menu.
This is a wonderfully nostalgic era Restaurant that was started in the '60s and continues to provide Great Meals at Great Prices. Wait Staff are Friendly and Courteous, and provide fast service to ensure the meal arrives piping hot to your table. There is Counter Service available , and this is a thing that you don't find too often, is excellent SERVICE! Meal alone is $8.95, Coffee $1.00 extra. Smiles (Free) Taxes and Gratuity extra. For the Not So Tall yet, there are High Chairs available, and it really has a 'Family' atmosphere to it. Highly recomended. -R
