“I grew from a photographic background into painting, and with photography, you’re constantly aware of light,” says Alice Rich, owner of Studio 13 Fine Art, where she paints and displays her works. “It gives you an amazing sense of composition and light, and I like to think that I’ve transferred that into my painting.” Filled with Alice’s beautiful, vibrant and vivid paintings and mixed media works, her Granville Island studio is a not-to-be-missed destination for visitors and Vancouverites alike.
“I draw from the West Coast. I’m constantly an observer of what’s around me, and I have a very emotional response to the landscape,” says Alice. “People are sometimes a little overwhelmed by so much colour, or so much energy, but other people just see the passion and the energy and they immediately relate to it.” Alice’s works capture the natural beauty of British Columbia with abstract and impressionist detail, her paintings full of the same emotion and energy that her surroundings invoke.
I have been to this studio on multiple occasions and it has always been a pleasure to return. Both the artwork and the owner are lovely. I would highly suggest everyone interested in art to come here!
