Paul Williams has hairstyling products in his blood. Not literally, of course — that would probably be fatal. Turns out the Williams family has been involved in the hair care business since 1944, when Paul’s grandfather and uncle started making shampoo, and his father started selling it to salons and barbershops across Ontario.
Fast-forward 70-plus years — and a few changes of location — and Williams Beauty Supplies offers much more than shampoo: Brushes, combs, gel, mousse, hairdryers, curling irons, peroxide…you name it. If it involves mane maintenance, Williams probably sells it to salons, barbershops and to the general public out of its stunningly well-stocked retail store on Dundas St. W. just south of Bloor. “I’m not the biggest beauty supplier in town, but I like to think I’m the best,” Paul says.
