The Vancouver Folk Music Festival returns to the city this month with nightly concerts at Jericho Beach on July 13-16. If you’re looking to grab a bite to eat before or after watching your favourite performers, check out these nearby restaurants in Point Grey and Kits that are just a brisk walk (or bike ride) from the Main Stage.

Displace Hashery

3293 4th Ave W, Vancouver BC V6K 1R8

You’ll find a little bit of Mexico in the heart of Kitsilano at this beachy restaurant and bar. Soak up the sun on the west-facing patio and order up a round of margaritas and you just might convince yourself you’ve been transported to a Tiki bar south of the border. The funky fusion menu is full of So-Cal inspired cuisine like fish tacos, shrimp ‘po boy sandwiches and artisanal pizzas.

Peggy Organic Cafe Inc

2
3605 4Th Ave W, Vancouver BC V6R 1P2

This charming organic café serves up brunch seven days a week and a wholesome selection of seasonal comfort foods prepared with locally sourced ingredients. As the name suggests, the pies are not to be missed. Piecrusts are lovingly prepared with unbleached stoneground flour and organic cane sugar and then filled with organic seasonal fruit – peaches and fresh berries in the summer, apple and pumpkin in the fall. On the savoury side, potpies are available in both meat and veggie varieties. The menu also features a number of vegan and gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions.

Bella Roma Pizzeria & Ristorante

You’ll be shouting Bellissima! after just a few bites at this local Italian joint on West 10th. Owner and executive chef Jimmy Khinda honed his culinary skills in Italy and is now a neighbourhood fixture, turning out authentic regionally-inspired pasta dishes and thin crust pizzas prepared in the on-site brick oven. A lively evening piano player adds to the European ambiance.

If you’re dining with a group, order a few different tapas-style dishes for sharing – the signature skewers are available in veggie, meat and seafood varieties. Those who like a little heat will get a kick out of the raw tako (octopus) wasabi and the kimchi-soaked tomato. Wash it all down with a glass of Rajio’s famous fruit punch (available with or without rum) served in a mini watermelon bowl.
