Music pours from the jukebox and customers are laughing and shooting pool at New Toronto Billiards (NTB). It’s Tuesday pool night, when teams from the Canadian Poolplayers’ Association League are competing. Co-owner Dallas Dyer looks dapper in his black jacket as he mingles with the guests.
NTB is one of the best places to play pool, says Tom Polsinelli, the top player in the league. The high quality pool tables are level and the temperature in the venue is cool enough to keep balls rolling properly.
NTB is also available for private functions including christenings, birthday parties, stags, wakes, etc. Guests can play darts, ping pong billiards and much more at these events. A dance floor or a karaoke machine can also be arranged. These activities help strangers meet, says Romaine Andronyk, Dallas’ mother and business partner. “Strangers make friends as they get up from their tables to mingle,” she says.
Guests also come to NTB because they know they’re safe, says Romaine. Clients who fight are banned from the lounge forever, and patrons are encouraged to drink responsibly.
