Award-winning designer and builder Mila Djuras, principal of Intermind Design, approaches every project with creative insight and a holistic methodology. Mila champions the belief that your home reflects your inner self, inseparable from your unconscious wishes and emotions.
Whether renovating or building various home styles or commercial spaces, Mila marries comfort and function architecturally and spatially through the design-build process; in other words, designing everything before it's built. "Our intention overall is to keep on budget," says Mila. "We firmly adhere to it, so we budget based on design." Almost every emotion can be transformed into a certain design element; it's the reason Intermind Design tackles the entire design, from how the space is going to work and the physical aspects (lighting, for example) to the smallest details.
To Mila and her Intermind Design team, a home is not just physical, but an extension of your personality and ideals; it's also spiritual and intellectual, and according to Mila, it has to be interactive.
"People have to like and appreciate design in their own life and understand that a well-designed place means functionality, but it also means interaction," says Mila. "And it's interaction that really improves the lives of people."
