When Erin McKain was studying to become a registered massage therapist, she already had her eye on an underserved market in the Edmonton area – deep tissue massage. “I didn’t want to do the spa-type massage,” says Erin. “I wanted to do the deeper, more therapeutic type of massage for athletes with injuries, et cetera. I knew the market was there for it.”
It was always Erin's goal to run her own business, but she started out working at a couple clinics while she waited for the right opportunity to come along. It came in 2007 when she bought an existing massage clinic and set to work changing its style. She also changed the business name to All Deep Massage & Wellness Clinic. “I enjoy being in control of my own income and my own destiny," she says. "If I fail, it’s my name out there, right?”
