Food was great- huge portions- a little dirty and run down- but food was fantastic- would eat there more often if restaurant was cleaner
I come here often for lunch. I am always more than satisfied, the dishes are always fresh and tasty, not to mention AFFORDABLE. I am so happy to support a local business. It has come to my attention that some people in Sudbury have rated this restaurant low... I cannot understand why. It has been my experience that for the most part, Sudbarians couldn't tell the difference between feces and good chocolate.
I loved this quaint little place. I was happy to find a mexican restaurant here in Sudbury , being i just moved here, and was pleasantly surprised. I dont agree with the negative reviews on here. The food was delicious and service was good and prompt. the servings were big and i found the prices fairly high but i would definitely go back again, i plan on it! best guacamole ive had in a while!
Loved this little hole in the wall (except the bathroom-go before you go) food was great- portions are generous, service was adequate. Only drawback- restaurant could be much cleaner.
La Casa Mexicana is one of my favorite places in town, I am a spanish student and have been there many times! the food is amazing and the service is awsome, If your looking for a cultural experience I would recomend over and over again to go to La casa Mexicana. For those who dont like it probably dont like cultural food. And obviously its not going to taste exactly like food from mexico because we are not in MEXICO.
Great experience. I had them cater a meal for 14 at work. Everyone loved it and said they'd bring their partners. It's a family run business that shows pride of ownership.
We were going to be in Sudbury for a weekend with a large group of people (24) and didn't have a clue where to go for dinner. I found Casa Mexicana on the internet and thought we would try it. I called ahead and made a reservation and had no idea we would take up the entire restaurant. When we arrived we thought oh oh this might not work out very well but we were very pleasantly surprised. They had all the tables arranged in a semi circle for us so we could all be together and they couldn't have been more welcoming. The waitress was on her own (someone didn't show up) and did an amazing job under the circumstances. We were out for the evening so we didn't mind that it took a longer. They first brought us the chicken soup which was very good and took the edge off our appetites. I ordered the Chicken Mole because I read good revues about this dish, and they were right. It was very good. I've never had it before and often looked at recipes to make it at home but after reviewing the list of ingredients decided against it. Now I know how good it is maybe I'll attempt it. Between the 24 of us I'm sure we ordered almost everything on the the menu and I heard absolutely no complaints. In fact a lot of my friends said it was the best Mexican food they had had outside of Mexico. They bought out Aztec cookies for everyone to have with our coffee and everyone left very satisfied. The parking was a little tricky, being from out of town we didn't have a clue where to park 12 cars but it all worked out. If we are back in Sudbury again I would definitely come back for another meal.
I absolutely loved the food, as I wanted to eat at this restaurant for 2 years and my b/f brought me on my birthday. He is a picky eater and was very hesitant as to going but enjoyed it more than I can say. The atmosphere was wonderful and it was quiet. A little pricy but well worth it in my opinion. The only complaint I had was the waitress. I am a firm believer of good service, if you are going to take on this position (which is not an easy job), you should be the best you could possibly be. She didn't smile, it seemed like we were almost a bother to her when we walked in and she handed us menus. After our meals were served, she never once came back to our table and asked if we were okay or would like anything else, she simply talked on the phone during this time. My b/f had to get up and order something and she never hung up the phone while she placed the order. I even watched her serving a table of 10 ppl that made reservations that asked her about drinks and she was naming off pop for the kids like it was a major thing??? When we paid for our food, her attitude was different, she opened up and conversed w/ us, but this is where the tip comes in??? Needless to say we left totally happy with the meal, but not the service (and no tip)!!!
Great place for dinner Delicious food Casa Ambiance I suggest this place!
Delicious, fresh, hot food, wonderful attentive service!
I live in Ottawa but was in town visiting a friend of mine. We decided to have lunch at Casa Mexicana as we do every time I am in town. The one thing that keeps me coming back is the freshness of the ingredients. Everything always tastes like it was made on the spot ( which I imagine it is) I'm most impressed with how accomodating the staff are for vegetarians. The cookies are a reason alone to make the trek to this cozy place. I guess the only negative thing that I can come up with is that there isn't a franchise in Ottawa. If there was, Casa Mexicana would be my favourite place to eat!
I tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and I have been back at least a dozen times in the last few months and I always try to bring new friends to try it out. The waitress has always been very kind, very accommodating. The food has been fantastic (particularly the guacamole, it's amazing!). The prices are moderate for the amount of food you receive (the Aztec Nachos are HUGE). The service is really where I find this place shines. The third time I walked into the restaurant the waitress remembered me and also remembered that I really enjoyed the guacamole. She noticed that I hadn?t ordered any. I told her I was by myself this time and the guacamole comes in a large portion that I couldn't possibly finish myself. ?How about we make you a side plate of guacamole?? Perfect! Not only did she know what I wanted, she offered to change the portion size (not in the menu!) to suit me. The atmosphere is cheerful. Often they'll even have a musician play guitar and it sets a relaxed enjoyable mood. I also appreciate that they can make almost anything on their menu vegetarian style, as I've recently become a vegetarian. Vegetarian options are slim to none in this city. I would also like to address some of the criticism in these reviews. If you never go back to a restaurant like Casa Mexicana because the waitress forgot your water on a busy day, you may need to re-evaluate what makes a good restaurant. Not to mention complaining about not being seated in a restaurant where you seat yourself is quite ridiculous.
Can't believe that is has taken me so long to try this place.Have been meaning to get there since it opened some time ago. Sorry I didn't get there sooner! Great food! Great service! Nice ambience! Loved the sangria! It's a nice change from all the roadhouse style eateries in town.
We greatly enjoyed our night at La Casa Mexicana.. while the resturant was very busy i found that the servise was great and the live music was pleasent. As for the food, I can not say enough. I can't remember the last time I left a resturant so satisfied.
THIS IS A NICE LITTLE RESTAURANT THAT SERVES AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS, ESPECIALLY THE GUACAMOLE. MOLE NOT HOT BUT JUST RIGHT.A NICE ATMOSPHERE.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. The service was very friendly and informative. The food was incredible and the portions were very large. You definitely get more than you pay for. The atmosphere is quaint. A nice change of pace from the other restaurants in Sudbury. We will definitely be back. Keep up the great work!
Portions rather small for the price.Chairs seem rather unsafe.Atmosphere and ambience was pleasant.
Our server was very friendly and accomodating. I was interested in a certain dish, but wasn't sure if I would like it, so she brought me a sample! The servings weren't as big as the Mexican restaurant that my husband and I frequented when we lived in Vancouver (we would alway end up bringing food home), but none of us were hungry when we were finished. Atmosphere was casual but cozy. Chairs could be upgraded, but we were still relatively comfortable. Upon leaving, I was already thinking about returning in the near future.
Just wonderful! We all had the beef burrito which came to our table with a lovely little soup, then accompanied with a simple tossed green salad and fantastic rice. The burrito was asbolutely delicious and the portion was appropriate for the price. Good food, good service, good value. We will definitely be back. Oh yes, and do try the cookies - they are FANTASTIC!
I love this place. Staff is great. Food is wonderful and healthily prepared! Ambiance is colourful and festive. A true gem of a place amid a city of chain restaurants!
