I ordered Fri-Jan-08-21 at 4pm to pick up at 6:15pm using the Swiss Chalet App. I received confirmation and when I showed up my order was not started and I could expect 30 minute delay but based on cars in the parking the delay would be closer to an 60 or 90 minutes. The App should communicate the delay. I will not re-order!
This place is located in the plaza at the corner of Burritt and Ontario St. Swiss Chalet is a chain that can be found in just about every corner of Canada. They specialize in Rotiserrie Chicken and Ribs. The location in Stratford has been open since the mid-80's. When it first opened it was virtually packed every night. Throngs decended on the place. Now it is possible to get a seat without waiting in line. We were coming back from a rained out ball game in Waterloo last night and popped in for dinner. GF ordered the 1/4 chicken white meat with fries, GF's daughter ordered the chicken wrap, no fries and I ordered the wrap with fries. On GF's-D recommendation we ordered the dry rubbed spicey rib pieces as a starter. Swiss Chalet is licensed for beer and wine, but GF's-D...ordered a shirley temple, GF a coffee and me a perier. I swear they were short on chicken catchers last night. It seemed to take forever for the food to come. The starter arrived and it was disappointing. The rib pieces had a grey look to them and they were far from spicey. I had thought they would have done these like boneless rib meat rubbed and cooked to dip in the dipping sauce provided...but no they had annoying little bones in the middle and on top of being less than tasty they were a pain to eat. The rest of the food was up to Swiss Chalet's usual standard. They do make good chicken, no question and I do like their chicken wrap. The classic Swiss Chalet chicken sauce is provided in bowls with each order and is great for dipping nit only the chicken/wrap but also the fries. They do have good fries for a chain. The place itself is looking tired and in need of a face lift. Anytime we have gone in there the floor always seems slippery. They say it is due to washing...I say it is due to the grease humidity hanging in the air. It does appear they are making some changes to the washrooms and the bar area, but the whole place needs a freshening. It looks like it has not left the 1980's. So food quality, as side from the starter, was usual Swiss Chalet. Good value for the dollar. Decor....time to call in the redesign team.
What wonderful food and service provided by the manager and staff at the Swiss Chalet. Thank you for making this dinner special!
We're regulars at this restaurant, for many reasons. The food each time we go in is Hot, Fresh, and pefectly made to order. We always get an appitizer of sorts before our main meal, and they are always good. This meal in partuicaular was so good, we took our leftovers home to enjoy that night watching a movie. Service is usually really good (fast and friendly). Highly reccomend this place!
