I ate here with my family and we were delighted to find another teppanyaki place after losing our favourite one in the west end, and being disappointed at the Village. I am disabled, and access use an issue that they cannot solve at that location, but they do everything that is possible to make up for it. We know our teppanyaki, and were very pleased. We will be back!
I just got back from dinner at this place and I had chicken teriyaki. Extremely horrible food and service. I really do not know why the review is so high, I suspect its the owner's friends commenting on this. First, the chef isn't even Japanese. Second, food is terribly cooked and pricey. I would have had a much better dinner at Tim Hortons. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. I only gave it 1 star because 0 star is not an option. ONLY GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND EAT HORRIBLE FOOD.
This restaurant has excellent vegetarian sushi! Highly recommend the salad with house dressing as well, the dressing is very tasty. I went with a group and, although some in my group were unhappy with their meals, I was extremely happy with mine. The service was a little slow but polite and friendly. You will most likely have to pay for parking, as there is not parking on this street. Be sure to make reservations as it can be full, especially at peak times. I would recommend this as a good place to eat and I will be back!
My second Teppanyaki experience so far; not overly impressed. Points gained for rapidly serving me alone on a Wednesday. Points lost for showy stuff without any use for it - the flame at the beginning being completely gratuitous, and the tired onion volcano (started by the Benihana chain in the US). (For comparison, Japanese Village's flame flambees the shrimp to succulence, so it serves a purpose there.) My main reason for the lower score was the style of cooking: not only are they overly-generous with the teriyaki and other cooking sauces, but they quickly scoop the meat up and drop it in your plate - still swimming in sauces. They serve dipping sauces on the side, but what's the point? I left the place feeling very heavy instead of just full. I may have gotten a bad experience, since it was empty and the chef seemed to be in training or newly-trained (sensible for a non-busy time); the indication that it was "always empty" on a Wednesday night though was not reassuring; if it's really good, word of mouth travels. Being on Queen may not help, but it's not far from Elgin, so it's not difficult to get to. I'll give them another try soon, on a busier night, and see if my impression changes.
I loved this Japanese experience... The fire and food cooking in front of you made it exciting! The food is AMAZING!!! and they just keep on brining it out, you definately get your moneys worth. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cosy, and the food is great! definately recommend it
TOTALY AWESOME. Have been here many times and absolutely love it. Grant (manager) and Jonathan (Owner/Chef) are very personable and friendly. You can tell that they love what they do and are always ready to accomodate. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for any ocasion and all tastes as you can have non-sushi or sea food meals prepared for you a-la-carte or on the tepanyaki tables. TOTALLY YUMMY!
