Used to be our place for chinese food. Not sure if its a new chef , they changed their recipes or the quality if ingredients are just poor.
No more pork in the wonton soup, the soup is bland. Almond guy ding leaves a lot to be desired. Even the rice is awful now.
So sad , used to be so good.

I order tonight for dinner, been ordering there 3 -5 times a year, awful food the rice smelled funny like burnt oil. The chicken balls were very hard.AWFULL
I don't know if their new owners but no more for us, threw it to the trash - outside because of smell.
I've been ordering from My Favorite Chinese Food in Orleans for over 5 years. They have the absolute best hot and sour soup, spring rolls and other menu items in the Ottawa area. I live outside the city and would drive in to pick up dinner from there. The service is excellent, prices are good. Try them, you won't regret it. I have tried hot and sour soup in countless locations and it doesn't measure up to this place.
In the centre of Orleans near St. Joseph and Orleans Blvd, it only takes 5 minutes for me to get there. Orders are received quickly and an estimate of the time is given. This is the best choice for Szechuan food and Cantonese dishes are also tasty and well prepared. I also consider this great quantity for the price.
We have been ordering from "My Favorite Chinese Food" since it opened. From time to time we have tried others that open in our area, but always go back to this restaurant. The BEST ever. My brother from Toronto loves their egg rolls so much, he orders 5-6 dozen each time he visits, or we bring them to him.
I can honestly say, I was very disappointed. And before you think I own some other restaurant, think again. I'm a public servant and work downtown. I live in the burbs and was on my way home looking on my phone for something new to try. We don't have a favorite (sic) Chinese food place; but this will NEVER be it!
I should have guessed by the odd smell when I first walked in minutes after ordering by phone; it smelled rank and not pleasant but I thought all these people giving this place such rave reviews couldn't be wrong. Well they are!
If this is what you think Chinese food is supposed to taste like, think again! Try a real place, any place on Somerset for example. Authentic Chinese food shouldn't leave you feeling bloated and sick mere seconds after consuming it.
Cinnamon in egg rolls? Overcooked and dry? Crispy beef? More like soggy slop. Tasteless rice. Salty wings. Chicken balls should be called batter balls. And the sauce for the egg foo young wasn't even distinguishable as gravy. I accidentally put it on the chicken balls thinking it had to be the garlic sauce.
If this is the best Orleans can offer, I'll stay away from Chinese food. Anyone want the leftovers in my fridge?
when we moved to orleans we went through many chinese food places searching for one as good as the one in our previous neighbourhood in Nepean, and we finally found it with My Favourite Chinese! We order frequently, and it is consistently great! I always get the general tao chicken, hubby always gets the lemon chicken. it's not greasy and flavourless like most places, and we've never gotten a "bad batch". i'm ordering again tonight!
After reading the reviews on this site, I thought that I would try this takeout place. The food was not good. I don't know how anyone can say that the food is good here. I'd say that it is less than fair. The fried rice, chicken balls (which are more dough than chicken), as well as the lemon chicken, which we ordered is pre-made and just re-heated. Parts of the plates were cold! Not cool but cold which tells me that the food was in the refrigerator and was just re-heated. As well, the sauces that accompanied the order were jelly like, (because they were cold), and tasted like any sauce that one can get at a supermarket. Nothing was original just re-heated pre-packaged food. Why can't we have a good chinese takeout place in the suburbs?
Sorry folks, but the food didn't make the cut.. We just moved to Orleans, friends and this site told us that the MFCF was the best place for Chinese. We ordered on Saturday at 6 PM. When we picked up, the aroma was great and we could hardly wait to dig in. The appetizer rolls were dripping grease, the Sam See was too bland - more bean sprouts than anything else, the Crispy beef was overcooked and too hard to chew. The opposite of the rice which was undercooked and too al dente.The garlic ribs...left uneaten after the first one.
Maybe we were unlucky and got a bad combination but for a first try we were unimpressed.
I will say this, if there are some outstanding dishes please post as we are willing to give them another try before throwing out the take-out menu.
What can I say? Best Chinese food in town! :-)
Trust me, we've tried many places all over the Ottawa area. If you know any places better than this place then please let me know! Otherwise, this is THE goto chinese food place!
The food is cheap, tastes great, and is not greasy or too salty like many other chinese joints. If you want affordable and great chinese food, this is the place to get it if you live in Orleans!
Note: I cannot comment on the pork and/or beef items since we do not eat those.
My Favorite Chinese Food is a take out/delivery only but it is the BEST food I have eaten anywhere, bar none. We have been ordering from them for years. I have tried new one that open in my areas, but always go back to My Favorite Chinese Food.
Any one that would even take the time to write a negative review about My Favorite Chinese Food had most likely a child or they never had Chinese food in they're life or their family probably owns a Chinese restaurant and they're extremely jealous! HANDS DOWN, there is no comparison to My Favorite Chinese Food. All the employees working there are very friendly, the food is amazing and no matter what others have said this is a VERY clean restaurant, they have an open view of the kitchen and you can watch the cooks in action. They're quick to deliver and well worth every dollar spent! Sometimes when I'm not even hungry I'll just swing by just to see how they're doing. This is a family oriented business that probably deserves more credit then some would give them for bringing this exceptional service to Orleans. Thank you My Favorite Chinese Food!
The negative reviewers for this restaurant are clearly paid shills for competitors. My Favorite Chinese, despite their American spelling, are an amazing Chinese take-out place. Ignore the paid shills and take it from a regular diner. Their spring rolls, egg rolls, and other Chinese food fares are Amazing. They'll make your Imperial chicken how you please (from mild to extra-spicy) at the time of order.
The human monsters that think this is anything less than an 8 at least are some of the worst people on earth and should never post again.
This Chinese food is amazing. It is so tasty, without leaving you with that greasy feeling afterwards. It is so fresh and served hot. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
I would like to start by saying that the guy that goes by digusting that reviewed this restaurant, has obviously never been. I would like to think that I've been to must Chinese restaurants in Ottawa but yet I always find myself coming back. They have very good service and the best food. They always get the order right and on time.

This is THE take out Chinese place in Orleans. Firstly, thee is no MSG in the food and it tastes great without it. It is fresh and does not require the added salts. Secondly, there are menu items unique to them and are imaginative and tasty. Thirdly, phone orders are efficient, friendly and the delivery service is prompt and the food is still very hot on arrival. I have used them for years and have no reason to change to another Chinese take out. Excellent
I love this place! I eat here probably twice a week on average! food is always ready super quick and is always hot...AND delicious! They are always very nice, even when i ask for no celery in my chow mein! Do yourself a favor and eat here!
bets chinese food I have ever eaten. My family and I go there all the time. Very curtious staff. We have tried a few places and won't ever go to them again.
