What would please an accountant most? Maybe it’s this scenario: a client moves across the country but retains the services of his accountant from back home year after year. This same client also encourages his new friends to work with his longtime accountant.

The accountant is J.D. Pettit, owner of Jay Dee Accounting & Tax Services on Brant Street in Burlington. Some of his clients have moved away to British Columbia, Ottawa and China, but continue to come to him for their tax needs.

“I have one client that used to work for the Burlington Post. He’s moved out to B.C.,” J.D. explains. “He’s since that time referred about five other clients who also live in B.C. I’ve never met these people. There’s someone in B.C. that could be doing their taxes, but they send them to me every year. It kind of makes you feel good that they’re sticking with you.”
